Today, Settle, Bauer and I headed to the stables to Riley Rose's 7th birthday party. It was such a fun party. The children got to saddle up and ride the horses around the farm. And yes, Bauer even got to ride a horse. He rode on a horse named Buddy and he loved it! Or, I should say, he loved Buddy! He was amazed by him.
The horse instructor said Bauer was a natural horseback rider. Ha! She commented on how well he was sitting in the center of the saddle with his heels down and his legs straight. :)
After all the riding, the children worked up an appetite so everyone gathered in the barn on the bales of hay for chips, ice cream and cake! Yummy! We had so much fun helping Riley Rose celebrate her 7th birthday.

10 Month Pictures & Update (Catch Up Post)
I find myself reminiscing about the days when I was wishing Bauer would finally crawl, but now I know why people told me I should be happy he wasn't crawling yet. Oh no, there is no stopping him now!
Settle and I have learned that buying toys is just the biggest waste of money. Bauer prefers playing with empty diaper boxes or anything else that he can pull out of the kitchen cabinets or the dishwasher as far as that goes (don't worry we keep sharp objects out of his reach).
Bauer is so aware of his surroundings. He is like a sponge absorbing everything! I just wish I knew what he was thinking about in that head of his as he is trying to make sense of the big world that he lives in.
One thing is for sure, there is never a dull moment around our house now.

Summertime's Calling Me
Well, last weekend it was in the low 30's, we were building snowmen and playing in the snow and this weekend it hit close to the mid 60's and the weather was just gorgeous. Saturday was a perfect day to be outside enjoying some sunshine for a change. Of course, while we were out and about on Saturday, we made a quick stop by the mall and I am glad we did. I found some really good deals on some cute new outfits for Bauer for this spring/summer. I just can't wait to see him toddling around in his little cargo shorts and especially the new swim trunks I bought him for this summer. I was so excited that I just had to try his swim trunks on him when we got home. And... just so you know, I tried them on him right before getting him ready for bed. I was a bit unsure if he would even let me attempt to put it on him without pitching a fit because he was super tired, but I figured it was worth a shot, just to see his chubby little legs in the patchwork trunks. Well...let me just tell you, he got sooooooo excited and was beside himself with joy. He jabbered and laughed for at least 45 minutes past his bedtime. I believe he really thought we were going to the beach or maybe it's just that he liked the idea that mommy was going to let him start wearing shorts year round (like daddy) Ha! I thought I would share a few of the pictures that we snapped of Bauer sporting his new swim trunks. Enjoy!

Snow Cool
We were so pleased to wake up this morning to a beautiful, white winter wonderland! Living in coastal North Carolina, it is very unusual to get much more than a half a centimeter of snow. Ha! Early this morning we were so excited to bundle Bauer up to take him outside to get his first reaction to the snow, but he got bored with the whole dressing (layering) process that by the time we got him ready, he was tired and ready for a nap. Poor guy, he feel asleep on the sofa in his snow gear before we ever made it outside this morning. After a short nap, some friends stopped by for a visit. Bauer was very excited to see his friend, Harrison. Bauer got to play in the snow for the first time and he was a bit unsure of all the cold, white stuff as you can see from our pictures! Daddy stayed out in the snow to build a snowman, snow woman, and a snow baby while Bauer sat at the door watching all the neighborhood children run and play about. I made a big bowl of delicious snow cream and I think Settle ate at least 3 bowls before I reminded him that if he didn't stop soon, he would end up with a tummy ache. After several more short trips outside to enjoy the snow, Bauer is now back down for another nap. This time I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter's nap. I believe all the excitement has worn Bauer (and mommy and daddy) out!

7 Months Pictures & Christmas

We celebrated Bauer's first Christmas at our home. Bauer left milk and brownies out for Santa and went to sleep early so Santa could come. He woke up the next morning and was excited to see a whole lot of boxes and bags for him to play with. Why didn't someone tell us he would have been perfectly content with chewing on the paper and playing with bags and boxes. We could have saved some money. Ha! He got lots of neat things this year. He is really enjoying his new toys. I am going to keep my post short and sweet and try to post pictures for everyone to enjoy. I have so much posting to do, if I could only find some time.
