Mr. Pouty

Bauer has a new fish.  His Aunt Lu Lu bought it for him the last time she was down for a visit. Every time (and I mean every time) Bauer would talk to Aunt Lu Lu on the phone he would try to tell her something about a fish. We couldn't quite make sense of what he was trying to tell her.  Aunt Lu Lu took it as a hint that he wanted her to buy him a fish.  Ha! 

When Bauer was about four months old, Settle and I introduced him to a new book called "The Pout Pout Fish."  It is a cute tale of a fish who always has a pout on his face.   All of his friends try to bring some cheer into his life but with little success until an unexpected friend is finally able to help Mr. Fish realize that he is not destined to be the “pout-pout fish” after all.  It is such a cute read aloud book.  It continues to be Bauer's favorite book since he was a baby.  We have read it so many times that Settle and I have memorized the entire story and Bauer has now started picking up on parts of the story.   

I'm excited because I just discovered that there is a sequel to The Pout-Pout Fish, called The Pout-Pout Fish In The Big-Big Dark.  I can't wait to get this book for Bauer.  I think we might have to talk to the Easter Bunny about bringing this one to Bauer for Easter. 

So when we asked Bauer what he wanted to name his fish he told us "Pout Pout".  Bauer loves to sit and watch him swim.  He especially loves to feed him.  When he feeds him, Bauer will count the food pellets out loud as he drops them into the bowl one at a time.  "One, two, three, four, YEA!  So cute!       

He is definitely enjoying his new pet fish, Pout Pout.  Thank you again, Aunt Lu Lu!   



Mommy's Rocking Chair

Bauer loves his new hand me down rocking chair. This rocking chair was mine when I was a little girl. My mother gave it to me about a year ago because she thought I would like to have it for Bauer. It is close to thirty years old now but for its age it is in pretty decent condition. Settle is planning to sand it down and refinish it over the summer and make it look brand new again. Despite its flaws, Bauer thinks it is the greatest rocking chair ever.  He  loves to sit in his rocking chair and read books.  I'm sure the chair will get plenty of use over the years.  One day, many, many years from now,  I am hoping that the chair can be passed along to my grandchildren and they will get a chance to enjoy it, too.

Do you remember my post about the photo book from Shutterfly that I put together for Bauer with photos from his first year?  Well, it came in the mail several weeks ago, and I absolutely love the way it turned out.  Bauer loved it, too.  He loved it so much that he insisted that he take it to bed with him that night.  Well, we let him and this is how we found him when we checked on him before going to bed that night.  How sweet is this? 

Simply priceless!

7 Years Ago

Seven years ago today I married my best friend. What a great blessing to have this man to walk through life with by my side. 

We have created so many memories along the way and I am looking forward to creating many more.  Happy Anniversary, Settle!  I love you!

Because we don't always carry around our sophisticated camera.  Because our family lives away.  Because our cell phones may die any day now.  Because we never want to lose these precious memories.  Because...(in no particular order)



because we are Tar Heel Fans...

because Mommy wanted to send Daddy a picture to tell him how much we missed him...

because we were on our way home from the hospital...

because it was worth it all...

because Mommy was kicked out of her hospital bed...

because we wanted to show everybody our son...

because somebody turned 1....




because he decided it was naptime...



because he was getting his first haircut...

because this was his first wagon ride...

because he was cleaning out the pantry...

because he was trying a pickle for the first time...

because this was his first taste of ice cream...

because he wanted to slide...

because he looked like such a big boy...

because he got to sit in a real firetruck...

because somebody wanted to help Mommy put dishes away...

because Bauer was driving Pa Pa's tractor...

because somebody got into Mama's flowers...

because Bauer wanted to get in the dryer...

because it was Beach Day at school...

because Daddy couldn't take the smell...

because I spiked his hair...

because he fell asleep before we could get out of the driveway...

because he signed eat...

because he fell asleep while in the shopping cart...

because Daddy built us a snowman...

 

because it was Bauer's first snow...

because I tried to dress him up like a snowman...

because I love my leprechuan...



because he got a new car seat...
