23 Month Pictures & Letter to Bauer
Dear Bauer,
You are 23 months old. In a month we will be celebrating your second birthday. I can't believe my baby will be a 2 year old. Yikes!
The big question right now is will you hit the terrible two's stage that I keep reading and hearing about. Double Yikes!
You were such an easy baby and you have been such an easy toddler. Yes, at times you are a very determined toddler and your father and I have to set clear limits so that you don't take over. (Trust me, you would if we let you.) However, when things don't go your way, you are easy to calm down and you rarely ever throw a fit. You are a go with the flow kind of boy and you adjust really well to new situations. Pretty easy if you ask me.
So what will it be?
The terrible two's or the terrific two's for you, my sweet boy?
Love always,
Mama

A Day at the Zoo
We decided to take our annual trip to the zoo earlier this year instead of waiting until Summer due to the heat. We went in July last year and boy was it a scorcher. The temperature hit the 100's and of course the humidity made it hard for us to breathe. I am so glad we decide to take Bauer earlier this year because the weather was absolutely beautiful on Monday. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant day to go.
We changed things up a bit this year by starting our zoo adventure in Africa because Bauer was stuck on seeing elephants and we knew that most of the animals tend to be more active in the mornings. I'm glad we did because all of the animals in Africa were out and about for there daily wandering and they really put on a good showing for us. Just a few of Bauer's favorites other than the elephants were the giraffes, lions, ostriches and of course, how could I forget the baboons.
Before we made our way to North America we stopped for a bite to eat and a quick rest break. Bauer usually naps from around 11:30 until 2:30ish each day. This was one day that he had his mind made up that he wasn't going to sleep. Just like last year, I think he was too afraid that he would miss something. He finally nodded off for a short while before we made our way to the North America's Rocky Coast exhibit to see the polar bears and the seals. Bauer loved watching the Harbor seals swim by him in the underwater viewing room. It really gave Bauer the opportunity to get close to the seals. He loved watching them dive, twist, turn and show off all of their moves before his very eyes. Boy were they quick! After making many more stops at other exhibits, our last stop was to see the alligators, another favorite of Bauer's and then to see the cougars (better known as the big cat to Bauer.) For some reason or another we just couldn't get Bauer to understand that we don't pet that kind of cat. Ha!
We definitely made a day of it at the zoo. Bauer enjoyed watching and learning about all the different animals and plants at the zoo. For the entire eight hours that we were there he didn't once lose interest in the zoo, but the minute we got on the road to head back home he could have cared less about anything around him. Poor thing was worn completely out!

Easter Recap
Easter this year with an almost two year old was lots of fun. On Thursday, Bauer's class at school had an Easter celebration that Settle and I attended and we had the most fun watching six toddlers run around in search for Easter eggs. Bauer lost interest in finding eggs when he discovered that some of the eggs had a small treat in them. From then on, the hunt was in his bag to find out which of his eggs that he had already found had a treat in them. After the egg hunt, his class enjoyed snacks. I love to watch Bauer interact with his friends and other children around his same age. I was so pleased with how well my son listened and followed directions in school. He looked like such a big boy sitting at the table eating his food. I have to mention that it was my child who found it necessary to walk around the table after the party and point out to one of the other mom's that her child had made a big mess with their food. I'm not sure who put him in charge of monitoring, but I wanted to crawl under the table. One thing is for sure about Bauer is that he doesn't like a mess and if he sees a mess he will let you know all about it.
On Saturday, we took Bauer to see the Easter bunny because he wouldn't stop talking about him. He just had to see him. Of course, when we got there to see him he didn't want anything to do with the big-eared bunny. We managed to get him to sit in my lap and take a picture with the bunny.
Then, on Sunday, Bauer was excited to see what the Easter bunny had left him. He was most excited about his candy. I let him enjoy a couple pieces of candy and then he bit the two ears off of his chocolate bunny before I decided it was time for him to stop. My child really didn't need to get all sugared up on candy especially since he has enough energy without it. Ha!
After taking several Easter pictures, we headed off to church, and then headed out of town to visit our family for a couple of days. Bauer enjoyed more Easter egg hunts, spending time with cousins and getting plenty of attention from the rest of our family.
