6 Month Update & Pictures

Stats:
19 lbs and 10 ounces (90-95 percentile) & 28 inches long (90-95th percentile)
  • Bauer loves to roll around the room and is moving very quickly toward starting to crawl.
  • He is going through the teething stage and is drooling a lot now.
  • As if you couldn't tell, he continues to have a big appetite. We have started him on solids but surprisingly he is not a huge fan of exploring new tastes. We thought he would chomp on anything we put in front of him but boy did we get fooled. He is still content with drinking Mommy's milk which is good because breast milk should be his primary source of his nutrition throughout the entire first year of life while his brain is growing so rapidly. Settle and I both became a bit worried about Bauer's lack of interest in food. Bauer's doc has assured us that we should not be worried because our goal should be to only expose him to new tastes and textures, not to substitute baby food for breast milk.

  • He loves to play peek-a-boo and loves for you to sing Old MacDonald to him.

First Taste of Cereal

What a big boy! Pictured here, Bauer is ready to try his first bite of rice cereal.
Bauer's reaction to rice cereal

Do you mean to tell me that I waited six months for this??

Well, we postponed solid foods to as close to 6 months as we could. Settle and I made the decision just the other day to start Bauer on a little rice cereal because he has really started to take interest in food, cups, spoons, forks, straws, etc. We can no longer take a sip of drink or a bite of food without Bauer stopping what he is doing to watch us!
His first impression of cereal.... not so great. Let's just say he wasn't a huge fan of cereal at first but now he loves it. According to studies, a baby needs to try a new food up to ten times before they learn to like it. It didn't take Bauer quite that many times before he realized that rice cereal wasn't so bad after all.

He is really starting to get the hang of eating from a spoon. It looks like he will be getting his first bite of green beans real soon. Stay tuned...

Shoo, Mr. Crow!

Look who we found in the pumpkin patch! Isn't he by far the cutest scarecrow you have ever seen in a patched and raggedy shirt and pair of pants? When I found this adorable costume I just knew it would be perfect for Bauer's first Halloween. He doesn't mind the shirt and pants so much but he is not a huge fan of the straw-trimmed hat that goes with the costume. I don't much blame him. We hope everyone has a fa-boo-lous Halloween!

Pumpkin Patch

Fall is here and Halloween is on its way! For years now, it has been a tradition for Settle and I to make a trip to the Pumpkin Patch to claim our pumpkin. Sunday was the perfect day to take a trip to the local Pumpkin Patch and search for the perfect pumpkin and to get some super cute pictures of the cutest little pumpkin in the patch. This year proved to be our most exciting trip yet to the Pumpkin Patch, but I anticipate next year will be even more exciting. I can already picture Bauer filling our wagon full of all sorts of pumpkins :)

STUD MUFFIN

While shopping over the weekend, I found an adorable onesie at Baby Gap, and, of course, I just had to buy it for Bauer :) On Monday, Settle and I dressed Bauer in the onesie and baked some muffins to take to the teachers at the academy where Bauer attends. In these pictures, you can see Bauer, (a.k.a. Stud Muffin ) dressed in his newest onesie, ready to head to school to deliver some fresh baked muffins. Isn't he just the custest Stud Muffin you have ever seen?

16 Week Portraits

Here are just a few of our favorite pictures of Bauer from his 16 week portraits. As I look back at his 6 week portraits, I am truly amazed at how fast he has changed and grown in just ten short weeks. Every day I look at Bauer and think, where does time go? I must say, time is passing way too fast! Settle and I are cherishing every moment with our little one. He is definitely our little ray of sunshine!
